Vodafone Egypt has denied that it intends to seek international arbitration on the granting of a unified telecoms licence or fourth mobile licence, according to Arab Finance citing a report in Al Ahram. On 09 November, AlMasry Alyoum had reported that the Vodafone Group VP had written to Egypt's communications minister Atef Helmy in light of pressure by the mobile companies on the government to stop issuing Telecom Egypt with a licence.

The UK-based company had reportedly said Egypt should abide by international agreements or it would seek international arbitration asking the government not to take any decisions regarding a unified licence, unless it was discussed with Vodafone Group.
