A group of Egyptian inventors developed an Android application that automatically updates the mobile phonebook to match the recent amendments made by the NTRA. The application is supported by Sony Ericsson's Xperia family to serve the Android users in Egypt.

The NTRA has recently added an extra digit to the normally 10 digits number to be 11 digits number. This new change is expected to be applied next Thursday and mobile users will be given 4 months as an update period in order to update all their mobile phonebook, after this period the 10 digit number will no longer be valid.

A very interesting statistics was released by NTRA recently, done on mobile users in Egypt, showed that 95.07% of the Egyptian population is mobile users, which is equivalent to 76.43 million since July 2011, because of this statistics, Mobile companies in Egypt felt obliged to develop their mobiles to provide the necessities of the increasing number of mobile users in order to meet the requirements of the rapidly growing market in Egypt.

The Android operating System is adopted by Sony Ericsson's Xperia family which allows its users to update their entire mobile phonebook with one click using this application instead of going through the lengthily process manually, starting from October 6th, 2011.
