Investigating NGOs’ financing in Egypt

Egypt’s judiciary has launched investigations into the financing of the country’s NGOs, according to the official MENA news agency.

Acting on directives from Prime Minister Essam Sharaf, Minister of Justice Mohamed Abdel-Aziz el-Guindi formed a fact-finding panel to look into the sources of the financing of the NGOs.

The panel swiftly reported some irregularities in the foreign financing of many organisations, prompting the Cabinet to refer the whole matter to the judiciary.
