Egypt will increase the amount of subsidized goods on the market for Ramadan this year, said Ibrahim Dessouky, head of consumer cooperatives affiliated to the Holding Company for Food Industries. He said Ramadan goods this year will exceed last year by about 15 percent in terms of volume to meet the needs of citizens.

The goods will be provided through about 800 outlets, he said, adding that the public sector aims to relieve low-income citizens of the hassle of standing in long lines to receive provisions.

Dessouky told Youm 7 that there is a full stock of strategic commodities such as rice, sugar, tea, flour, pasta, meat, and fish. He denied that such goods are more expensive than they were last year.
