Experian Hitwise Shows Sharm el Sheikh Back in Business
Despite its turbulent few months suffering revolution and political unrest, Egypt holidays have been recovering swiftly thanks to the pulling power of some of its star resorts.
Sharm-el-Sheikh holidays have made a major comeback in the past quarter as it was the fastest moving travel destination on data analyst Experian Hitwise's list of the top 50 most searched holiday locations on the internet. Sharm-el-Sheikh makes its triumphant return to the list after being off it for 9 months.
With almost 2 billion online visits to the travel industry during this quarter, the resurgence of Sharm-el-Sheikh holidays online has translated into a major boost for the Egyptian economy that was sorely needed after the disruption and chaos of January and February this year.
The Egyptian tourism has proved its resilience by encouraging holidaymakers to come back to its immensely interesting and cultured cities, relaxing beach resorts and of course the attraction of world wonders The Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.
Sharm-el-Sheikh received a 21 per cent increase in searches for flights and holidays during this quarter, putting it on the 39th spot on Experian Hitwise's list. Now that it is back in the fast moving lane, there’s no reason to think that the resort won’t continue to rise in the rankings, further helping attract visitors to the idea of Egypt holidays.
