Ethiopia, Egypt agree to work jointly for mutual benefits

Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi held discussion with his Egyptian counterpart Essam Sharaf on bilateral and regional issues in Cairo, Egypt.

The two sides also discussed on ways of boosting trade and investment relations as well as agreed to work jointly towards ensuring their mutual benefits.

Moreover, the two countries signed six agreements that focused on agriculture, education, capacity building and avoidance of double taxation, among others.

Prime Minister Meles also held separate discussions with Head of Egypt’s Military Council, Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi.

Following the January revolution in Egypt, a new chapter of relation has been opened between Egypt and Ethiopia.

Egyptian public diplomacy delegation and Prime Minister Essam Sharaf paid separate visits to Ethiopia after the revolution.
