Egypt moves to 11-digit mobile numbers

Egypt's National Telecom Regulatory Authority confirmed the plan to move to 11-digit mobile numbers from 6 October. The move announced last year is aimed at increasing the amount of numbers available. All Mobinil numbers will have the digit (2) added after the (01) code, the digit (0) will be added to Vodafone Egypt numbers, and the digit (1) will be added to Etisalat Misr numbers. A four-month transitional period will allow both numbers to continue to work when called.
