Egypt Gives More Scholarships

Egypt has offered more than 50 scholarships to Liberians to undergo training programs in fields such as Agriculture.

The Egyptian Ambassador accredited to Liberia, Maher El-Adawy, told the press Tuesday in Monrovia that since he assumed his assignment in the country last year's fall, Egypt has offered more than 50 scholarships to Liberians to undergo training programs in fields such as Agriculture, Judiciary, Security and Peace-Keeping Operations, and Business Women Empowerment, aimed at improving the manpower development of Liberia.

He made this disclosure while presenting three full scholarships to Mr. James J. Gildersleeves, Chief of Staff, Office of the Minister, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Miss Princess Dweh, Reporter, Liberia News Agency, Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism and Mr. Abraham G. Sherief, a seasoned journalist and presently the Assistant Director of Human Resource and Training Division, Ministry of Public Works.

The three Mass Media practitioners, Messrs. Gildersleeves and Sherief and Miss Dweh will study Programming, Television and Radio technical courses respectively at the Egyptian Ministry of Information Training and Media Studies Center, Egypt, for two months, beginning 10 September 2011.

The Egyptian Envoy also presented two more full scholarships to Messrs. Gregory M. Kpowulu and Emmanuel M. Gbigbi, Inspectors at the Bureau of National Fisheries, Ministry of Agriculture.

The two Liberian Agriculturists will join other trainees from African countries for the training program on Fish Culture Development at the Egyptian International Center for Agriculture (EICA) from 10-28 September 2011.
