Egyptian workforce are a key part of the UAE's social fabric, are given the utmost care and are warmly welcomed by all of UAE’s officials for their important contribution to the UAE’s development alongside their brotherly UAE citizens, stated Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs.

In a statement to Middle East News Agency, Al Gergawi said that the Egyptian workforce in the UAE is characterised by their vocational diversity, such as doctors, engineers, teachers, technicians, and other professions that raise the efficiency of the UAE society.

He pointed out that there are Emitari students that study in Egyptian universities, such as Al Azhar University, as part of the bilateral cultural and educational cooperation between the UAE and Egypt.

Al Gergawi praised the distinguished historic relations between the two countries in the field of science, economy, religion, culture and politics.

He said that such historic and brotherly relations stretch back to the era of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who held Egypt in high regard. He added that these relations have been strengthened and developed under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Al Gergawi said that the strength of these relations is represented in the completion of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Project to preserve the manuscripts of Al Azhar and publish them online.

The project involves documenting and preserving up to 50,000 manuscripts of Al Azhar, comprising more than eight million pages and 63 sections in various arts and science disciplines dating back to the beginning of Islamic history, in addition to 53,000 printed copies, the most recent of which was printed 60 years ago.

It also makes 125,000 references available electronically through a dedicated website, in addition to establishing an internal communications network to link the main Al Azhar institutes.

Al Gergawi said that this project supplements the march of diverse bilateral relations between Egypt and the UAE, and helps acquaint the world with Islamic civilization.
