85 percent of Egyptians use Google
Around 85 percent of Internet users in Egypt rely on Google as their search engine of choice, Google said on Thursday.
The Egyptian ministry of information estimates the number of Internet users in the country to be 25.87 million people.
Google has added a new service to its Arabic speaking customers, called Tashkeel, or pronunciation marks, to make Arabic writing more accurate.
Google also provides services such as translating and an Arabic keyboard for its search engine for customers with no Arabic key pad.
Since the January revolution, Egyptians have begun to get online more, with recent statistics showing that Facebook users, which numbered around three percent before January 25 to around 10 percent today.
