Egyptian orange exports rise to 1.9 million tons in 2025/2026 season

Egypt increased orange production to approximately 4 million tons during the 2025/2026 season, up 15 per cent year-on-year, according to USDA Foreign Agricultural Service data.

National orange exports were forecast at 1.9 million tons across more than 124 countries, compared with 1.8 million tons in the previous season. Main export destinations included the European Union, Russia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, India, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

PEI Trade reported its highest shipment volume, container count, and destination coverage during the campaign through its Nile Prime orange brand.

Container loading operations ran from week 50 of 2025 through week 20 of 2026, with peak shipment activity recorded between February and April. Exports moved through the Port of Alexandria, the Port of Damietta, and Port Said.

According to the company, fruit was sourced from GLOBALG.A.P.-certified orchards in the Nile Delta and Beheira governorate, with HACCP-certified packing facilities operating under ISO 22000 protocols.

The company said export programs focused mainly on Navel and Valencia oranges. Navel exports ran from mid-December through April, while Valencia shipments continued into late season markets, including Russia, GCC countries, and Canada.

PEI Trade also expanded its grower network across the Nile Delta and Sharqia governorate during the past two years, adding additional certified orchards to support export supply.

The company stated that cold chain operations included pre-cooling within four hours of harvest and reefer container transport maintained at 4 °C ±1 °C during shipment.

Export destinations during the season included countries across Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North America, and CIS markets.
