Transport min. inspects Kom Abu Radi railway workshops in Beni Suef
Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir inspected on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the main railway workshops in Kom Abu Radi, Beni Suef Governorate to follow up on the comprehensive rehabilitation and modernization of passenger railcars, including Spanish, VIP, “Tahya Misr” model, as well as sleeping cars.
During his visit, Wazir inspected various production sections and reviewed a number of railcars that have undergone full refurbishment.
The overhaul is being carried out in implementation of directives by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to ensure constant development of the railway system and deliver the highest level of service to passengers.
The minister also toured the factory of Colway Egypt, established in partnership with Spain’s Colway -specialized in manufacturing interior components for rolling stock.
Built on an area of 3,000 square meters, the facility reflects efforts to strengthen cooperation with leading international companies in railway manufacturing and localization, meet local market needs, reduce reliance on foreign currency and transfer expertise to Egyptian workers.
