The deal involves Telecom, Orange, Vodafone, and e& Egypt, making it the largest frequency agreement in Egypt’s telecommunications and information technology sector in the past 30 years.

For comparison, the total value of frequency bands and operating licenses over the same period reached $10 billion.

The expansion aims to almost double the use of local frequency spectrum, improve the quality and reliability of telecom services, enhance 5G performance, and support digital transformation in line with the 2026–2030 Spectrum Strategy and the Digital Transformation Strategy.

The frequency bandwidth was 272 MHz in 2019 and increased by almost 50 percent in 2022 to 412 MHz.

The initiative is part of Egypt’s broader efforts to strengthen communication infrastructure and the digital economy by meeting user needs, encouraging local and international private-sector investment, and ensuring reliable service delivery.

This comes ahead of meetings between the NTRA and the Communications and Information Technology Committee to address inquiries regarding internet usage and packages.
