Syrian president says Egyptian companies have priority in reconstruction
Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa said Egyptian companies will have first priority to take part in Syria’s reconstruction process, stressing that Syria is keen to benefit from their experience to help the country keep pace with development achieved in recent years.
Speaking during a meeting with a delegation from the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on Sunday, he said Egypt has seen strong economic growth and development over the past ten years under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. He noted that this progress is clear in infrastructure, energy and other sectors.
The Syrian president said Syria has passed through many difficult stages, especially before the lifting of sanctions, which he described as a very complex period. He added that while the country has suffered widespread destruction, this situation also represents an investment opportunity.
He pointed out that there are similarities between the current situation in Egypt and Syria, and reaffirmed Syria’s desire to benefit from Egypt’s experience and expertise gained in recent years.
He also said that Egyptian-Syrian integration has always been essential throughout history for the stability of the region, whether economically, security-wise or strategically.
