Egypt grants Golden License to China’s Deli Group’s EGP 8.8 bln office supplies plant
The license allows the subsidiary to establish an EGP 8.8 billion factory in the 10th of Ramadan City to produce office and school supplies, as well as children’s sports equipment, according to a cabinet statement on Tuesday.
Deli Egypt’s factory will operate on an area of almost 160,000 square metres. According to a statement by Deli Group, the project, which is expected to be completed by December 2026, will provide 3,000 local job opportunities.
The factory aims to enhance local manufacturing and will rely on local suppliers for more than 50 percent of its production components. It is expected to export at least half of its output abroad in accordance with Egypt’s new economic narrative.
Egypt’s new economic narrative’s main aims include, among others, doubling the contribution of foreign direct investment to GDP to 4.4 percent, creating 1.5 million jobs, increasing the share of manufacturing in GDP to 20 percent, and achieving seven percent real GDP growth.
According to the company’s website, Deli Group, founded 40 years ago, has 10 regional centres and 54 branches worldwide. It manages production for 10 independent brands and manufactures products in 24 categories. It also operates on e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Shopee, and Izada.
