Egypt approves partnership program with EU to advance local-level reforms
The Cabinet has approved a draft Presidential Decree for the financing agreement of the Support for Implementing Social and Economic Reforms at the Local Level program, established in partnership between the Government of Egypt and the European Union.
The initiative is designed to deepen the strategic cooperation between Egypt and the EU by implementing integrated development projects in informal and underserved communities.
It prioritizes improving key public services, including education, healthcare, and water, while working to enhance livelihoods, expand access to quality medical care, and direct focused support to vulnerable population groups. These efforts aim to strengthen social and economic resilience at the community level.
The program also contributes to the sixth pillar of the EU–Egypt Strategic Partnership, which centers on human capital and demographic development, by promoting healthier, more dignified living conditions for citizens across the country.
Beyond community-level support, the program aligns with Egypt’s broader agenda of macroeconomic and social reform.
