Damietta Port has received the giant vessel YANG FAN, flying the Panamanian flag, on its maiden voyage to the port. The ship carried a record-breaking cargo of approximately 121,220 tons—the largest volume of general cargo handled since the port’s establishment.

Major General Tarek Adly Abdullah, Chairman of the Damietta Port Authority, hailed the event as a clear testament to the port’s technical and operational readiness. He emphasized that safely receiving such a vessel required precise maneuvering and docking procedures, carried out with exceptional professionalism.

He commended the Authority’s maritime units, services, and pilots for their outstanding efficiency in guiding and berthing the ship, noting that navigational operations were executed with full consideration of the vessel’s dimensions and load.

Unloading operations were conducted using state-of-the-art equipment and advanced technologies provided by Cisco Trans Advanced Logistics, ensuring handling was completed in line with international performance standards.

The Chairman further stressed that this achievement reflects the Authority’s vision to strengthen Damietta Port’s competitiveness regionally and globally, fully aligning with Egypt’s national strategy to modernize the maritime transport sector and position the country as a leading global logistics hub.

He added that the milestone also mirrors the Ministry of Transport’s strategic plan to expand quay lengths and deepen drafts across Egyptian seaports, enabling them to receive the world’s largest vessels.
