Islam Azzam named Chairman of Egyptian Exchange
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has appointed Dr. Islam Azzam as Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange for a one-year term.
Azzam is a seasoned financial expert with a long track record in regulatory and investment roles. From January 2021 to August 2025, he served as Vice Chairman of the Financial Regulatory Authority, overseeing capital markets, insurance, and non-banking financial services.
Earlier in his career, Azzam worked as Advisor to the Chairman of the Mortgage Finance Authority (2007–2009) and as Assistant to the Chairman of the Capital Market Authority (2003–2005). He also served as Managing Director of the SME Investment Fund “Bedaya” and held the role of Advisor to the Minister of Investment.
He began his professional journey as an Economic Analyst in the Market Surveillance Department at the Capital Market Authority.
