Egyptian Remittances Soar to $32.8B: CBE
Remittances from Egyptians abroad jumped by sixty-nine point six percent in the period from July to May of FY2024/2025, reaching $32.8 billion, compared to $19.4 billion during the same period of the previous fiscal year.
According to a statement from the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), remittances between January and May 2025 also climbed fifty-nine percent year-on-year, totaling $15.8 billion, up from $9.9 billion in the corresponding period of 2024.
On a monthly level, May 2025 recorded a twenty-four point two percent year-on-year increase, with inflows hitting $3.4 billion, compared to $2.7 billion in May 2024 — marking the highest remittance inflow ever recorded for the month of May.
