The wind park, touted as Africa and the Middle East's largest wind energy plant, was brought online in several phases -- 306 MW became operational in December 2024, followed by 194 MW in April 2025, and the final 150 MW in June 2025. Although full grid connection was originally planned for the third quarter of 2025, the entire 650 MW was successfully integrated by June.

The Gulf of Suez Wind Farm II features 104 wind turbines in total and required an investment of USD 790 million (EUR 668.9m). It is located in the Gulf of El Zayt near the 262.5-MW Gulf of Suez Wind Farm I, which commenced commercial operation in October 2019.

The wind park's output is sold to the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA). Gulf of Suez Wind Farm II can generate enough clean electricity to power around 1,100,000 Egyptian households.

The project was funded through a financial package led by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), in collaboration with Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, the Norinchukin Bank, Société Générale S.A, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), with insurance provided by Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI).

Gulf of Suez Wind Farm II is operated by Red Sea Wind Energy SAE, owned by Eurus Energy (20%), Toyota Tsusho (20%), Engie SA (35%), and Orascom Construction Plc (25%).
