The Egyptian Prime Minister, mustafa madbouly, inaugurated yesterday a new plant of the company SE Wiring Systems Egypt LLC, a subsidiary of the Japanese Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems Europe, part of the industrial giant Sumitomo Group. The facility is located in the industrial city of Decimo di Ramadan, east of Cairo, and represents a strategic investment of global importance in the automotive sector. According to a press release issued by the Egyptian government, the plant is among the largest in the world dedicated to the production of electrical wiring harnesses for vehicles – commonly known as “electric braids” – essential components for the operation of modern vehicles, especially in the electrification segment.

The new industrial site also includes a training academy for the development of professional skills, a research and development center for technological innovation, and an eco-friendly facility powered by an integrated solar energy system. This approach reflects the Japanese group's commitment to environmental sustainability and local training, in line with Egypt's long-term goals for energy transition and the creation of skilled jobs. Sumitomo Egypt Deputy General Manager Mohamed Hammam said that exports from the Egyptian free zone have already reached 300 million euros, confirming the importance of the plant for Egypt's foreign trade.
