Egypt's Dr. Greiche Group invests $10 million in automotive glass plant
The move aligns with the Egyptian government's efforts to localize advanced industries and address the country's trade deficit, which increased by 13 percent in December.
The 25,000 square metre facility, located in 10th of Ramadan City, is slated to become the most advanced in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by 2026, the statement said.
The move follows a December directive from the Egyptian government's industrial development committee to establish new glass production plants to reduce reliance on imports.
Dr. Greiche Group, a supplier to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), aims to begin production at the new complex in the fourth quarter of 2026.
According to the statement, it is expected to lift the automotive sector in Egypt and beyond and address existing shortages of essential glass components.
CEO Chahir Greiche said the facility will feature advanced production lines and smart technologies from Italy, Spain, Switzerland, and China, enabling thermal processing of automotive glass to meet global standards.
