Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund Kristalina Georgieva, affirmed that the IMF supports Egypt in its structural reform measures aimed at improving the Egyptian economy, praising the positive impact of the steps taken on the Egyptian economy.

This came during a meeting between Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Georgieva on the sidelines of the opening session of the special meeting of the World Economic Forum in Riyadh earlier on Sunday.

Madbouli, for his part, praised the co-operation between Egypt and IMF, pointing out that the Fund’s approval of increasing the value of the financing program provided to the country reflected the high confidence that the Egyptian economy enjoys with the international financial institution.

During the dialogue session, held as part of the activities of the first day of the forum, IMF director highlighted the importance of the economic reforms undertaken by the Egyptian state in achieving the desired results in the coming period.

Georgieva stated that the challenges of global growth slowdown and disparities in growth rates among countries increase the importance of international cooperation to overcome challenges by increasing growth rates and better distributing wealth, a matter which was achieved by various countries throughout the 20th century.
