This achievement was accomplished by the bank's Computing Incident Response Team for the Financial Sector, reflecting the CBE's commitment to upholding international cybersecurity standards.

The membership underscores the CBE's dedication to establishing a framework that bolsters cybersecurity measures within the financial and banking domains, as per the statement.

By joining forces, the CBE aims to leverage both regional and international expertise in the realm of cybersecurity, demonstrating its eagerness to enhance its capabilities.

“This move epitomizes the bank's keenness to cultivate expertise while capitalizing on the collective knowledge and experience available in the cybersecurity field,” said Sherif Hazem, the sub-governor for the cybersecurity sector at the CBE.

Furthermore, this membership aligns with the CBE's strategic objective of empowering governmental entities to effectively respond to cyber threats and coordinate the mitigation of such attacks.

In May 2023, the CBE achieved accreditation and membership in the Global Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST), becoming Egypt's inaugural sectoral cybersecurity incident response team to gain international recognition from FIRST.
