Angola and Egypt's relationship is defined by shared visions of economic growth, infrastructural development, and regional integration, dating back to the 1960s. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's recent Angola visit signals a move to consolidate ties with African nations, focusing on economic, trade, and investment bonds with an emphasis on climate change cooperation. Egypt seeks to expand its infrastructure sector in Angola, indicating an aspiration for economic strengthening and diverse trade and investment profiles for wider regional economic integration. A significant area for cooperation is the production of green hydrogen from renewable energy sources, a potential game changer for energy dynamics. Egypt's activities in this arena are not very explicit but there is clear momentum. If Angola and Egypt collaborate in this domain, they could set a benchmark for Africa's green energy transition. Angola, a member of the Africa Green Hydrogen Alliance, is investing heavily in green hydrogen with plans to export it to Germany from 2024. The pursuit of green hydrogen is also a strategic climate resilience move in the face of climate change threats, capable of inducing socio-economic upheavals and even political instability. The challenges ahead include technological, infrastructural, and financial aspects. Through bilateral relations, both countries can pool resources, exchange expertise, and build international partnerships to navigate these hurdles. This evolving relationship between Angola and Egypt signifies a new chapter in Africa's diplomacy, driven by mutual ambitions and environmental commitments, potentially showcasing Africa's answer to the global call for sustainable solutions.
