Tarek Heiba, General Manager of Dell Technologies in Egypt and Libya, said that the world is witnessing unprecedented development and progress thanks to the spread of artificial intelligence, blockchain, and fifth generation technologies, in addition to digital currencies and the Internet of Things. These technologies have enhanced how communication and information exchange are made.

He added that the increase in digitization and interdependence between people, organizations, and machines is greatly affecting the economies of the world.

“The current government strategies emphasize the role of digital technology in accelerating economic diversification, enhancing sustainability, and ensuring the happiness of citizens. At the level of the Egyptian market, the government is taking rapid steps in developing and building an advanced infrastructure to achieve digital transformation in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030,” he explained.

According to Heiba, the biggest evidence is the success of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt in achieving growth rates of 16.7% during the fiscal year 2021/2022, in addition to the digital transformation projects that were implemented in cooperation with various sectors, with investments amounting to EGP 50bn.

Gartner, a technological research and consulting firm, predicted that total global government spending in information technology will reach $588.9bn in 2023, an increase of 6.8% over 2022. This growth is due to increased adoption of cloud computing, big data analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
