Egypt’s construction materials exports hit $5bn in 2017
The construction materials export industry in Egypt rose to US$5.08bn in 2017, from $4.92bn in the previous, a 3% increase.
According to a report released by the Export Council for Building Materials (ECBM), the minerals industry accounted for almost 77% of last year’s total materials exports.
The exports of mineral industries expanded from $3.8bn in 2016 to $3.9bn in 2017, a 1% increase.
The iron export sector grew by a huge 97% in the review period, from $438mn to $863mn.
Copper also had a successful year, with exports growing by 47% from $162mn in 2016 to $237mn in 2017.
