The UAE legal firm Al Tamimi & Co has struck up a partnership deal with Egypt’s Nour & Taha Law Firm.

The Al Tamimi partner and Egyptian national Mohamed Khodeir will lead the Egyptian practice alongside Ayman Nour and Ehab Taha, the Egyptian firm’s founding partners, from April.

The practice will subsequently be known as Khodeir, Nour and Taha.

Under Egyptian law, international law firms are prevented from establishing new offices and are obliged to conduct business in the country via a partnership with an Egyptian firm. The rebounding Egyptian economy is attracting increased investment from the UAE. Egypt’s finance minister Hany Kadry Dimian said economic growth would accelerate to as much as 5.5 per cent next fiscal year as the country pushes ahead with structural reforms, Bloomberg reported yesterday. He said expansion may reach 5 to 5.5 per cent in the year ending in June 2016 after growth “north of 4 per cent” this year.

“We welcome this association with our strategic partners in Egypt and we are proud to be able to include them in the Al Tamimi & Company network,” said Al Tamimi’s managing partner Husam Hourani.
