EU, Egypt discuss fostering economic relations

The European Union adviser for economy and trade said that the transitional phase in Egypt did not affect economic relations with the EU.

Alexandria Chamber of Commerce on Thursday 12/06/2014 hosted 13 commercial representatives of a number of European Union countries to discuss ways of boosting bilateral relations especially in economy and investment in tourism, renewable energy and textile fields.

Ahmed al-Wakil, the head of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and a number of businesspersons attended the meeting.

They called for holding periodic meetings to discuss ways to foster mutual relations.

The European Union adviser for economy and trade said that transitional phase in Egypt did not affect economic relations with the EU, adding that relations have increased in the past period.

In the meantime, Wakil hailed EU's role in supporting transitional phase in Egypt during the last four years, pointing out that 60 percent of foreign investments in Egypt was from Europe.
