New minimum wage takes effect Wednesday
The new minimum wage for public sector employees will take effect on Wednesday, according to a Ministry of Finance official.
The new minimum monthly wage is 1,200 EGP ($171), but it does not apply to workers in the private sector.
The financial directorates and accounting sector at Ministry of Finance issued a periodic book obliging all public and private banks to pay employees’ salaries by Wednesday, Jan. 22, the official added.
