Mursi, Hamad agree on expanding economic cooperation

President Mohamed Morsi met on Wednesday Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa. Talks between the two leaders dealt with means of boosting bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation and investments between the two countries.

Talks also touched on a wide range of Arab and regional issues topped by bloodshed in Syria and the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Following the meeting, Prime Minister Hisham Qandil said the Emir of Qatar expressed his gratitude for the facilities extended by Egypt to facilitate his visit to Gaza strip, adding Egypt played a big role in this visit.

Qandil said the two leaders discussed means of eliminating clutters hindering Qatari investments adding an agreement was reached on the exportation by Qatar of liquefied gas to Egypt adding talks are underway on mechanisms of implementation. He said Egypt would use liquefied gas in running power generating stations in order to pare down the use of furnace oil which does not help maintain stations.
