Shafiq: Egypt Needs a 'Professional Player'
Potential presidential candidate, Ahmed Shafiq, said that Egypt needs a leader who enjoys a risk-taking spirit not one who depends on traditional tools in dealing with daily challenges.
"Egypt's past misfortune was a result of the authorities' failure to take fitting decisions, to face challenges, and instead resort to the routine procedure", Shafiq said as reported by Al-Masry Al-Youm.
In a meeting with Bedouin leaders in Abou Rawash, Shafiq added that Egypt needs a "professional player" who is willing to take bold decisions on the road to development, not a cooperative player who depends on associates and wastes opportunities.
Arguing that the economy is going through a rough patch, Shafiq insisted on his ability to regain the confidence of the international community in Egypt's economy within a year of his rule.
The former Prime Minister also promised to meet the demands and aspirations of the people.
