36 NGOs Receive Suspicious Financing
Prime Minister Essam Sharaf pledged to bring to trial any NGOs proved involved in receiving suspicious Arab or foreign financing, according to a high-ranking judicial source at the justice ministry.
"A fact-finding commission entrusted with investigating the system of foreign finance for entities working in the fields of human rights and civil society activities will finalize its report by the end of next week," said the source.
Minister of Social Solidarity Gouda Abdel-Khaleq said talk is revolving around 36 non-government associations that have received foreign funds in violation of the law, adding the ministry will submit its report about that soon.
The judicial source revealed that the United States, Kuwait and Qatar top the list of countries causing lawlessness in Egypt.
