Trade Minister: Economic Stability Top Gov't Priority

Industry and Trade Minister Mahmoud Eissa has asserted the government's keenness on bringing stability to the public sector through suitable finance and employment.

In a statement released by his ministry, Eissa said the approach to support the economic and political stability is a top priority in addition to combating corruption.

He attributed the recent restoration of three privatized textile companies to the public sector to reasons pertaining to their contracts.

The minister stressed that the government receives more investment applications.

Meantime, Eissa held talks with Bulgarian Economy and Energy Minister Traicho Traikov on ways to boost cooperation on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Dead Sea resort in Jordan on Friday. The talks tackled Bulgaria's experience in luring more foreign investments.

Egypt needs billions of dollars to reach a final solution to the issue of unemployment, said Eissa on Saturday.

Addressing a seminar on the sidelines of the WEF, Eissa underscored the necessity to combat corruption. He acknowledged that the security conditions in Egypt have harmed investments.

Earlier Saturday, the minister said the government gives priority to bringing about economic stability.
