RI-Egypt bilateral trade rises by 40%
The political turmoil in Egypt has apparently not impeded the bilateral trade between Indonesia and the Mideast nation, indeed the two-way trade value in the first half of the year was 40 percent higher than from year.
Two-way trade reached US$700 million during the January-June period this year, Indonesian Embassy in Kairo charge d’affaires ad interim Burhanuddin Badruzzama said during a meeting with 45 Egyptian business figures in Kairo on Saturday evening, Antara news agency reported on Sunday.
The meeting was held ahead of the business figures’ departures to Jakarta to take part in the 26th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI), scheduled to run from Oct. 19 to 23.
Burhanuddin said that the number of Egyptian business figures who would participate in the this year’s TEI was more than last year’s 34.
“They have expressed interest in importing Indonesian products, such as wooden and rattan furniture for households and offices, automotive batteries, motorcycles, tires, automotive spare parts, textiles, agricultural products, crude palm oil, tea and electronic products,” he said.
