Gold mine, golden team

Mantrac Egypt has recently assembled its 4th Bucyrus RH120 excavator, which boasts a bucket capacity of 17 m³ and carries up to 32 tons, at El-Sukari Gold Mine (SGM), 30 kilometers south of the Red Sea city of Marsa Alam.

The recent purchase of the powerful machinery marked another phase of a fruitful relationship that took a different turn in early 2007 when a fully equipped support team from Mantrac Group was dispatched onsite in order to provide the customer with prompt services and around-the-clock maintenance for the equipment used in the operation of the mine.

“This site is expected to be one of the top ten mining sites in the world,” said Sameh Fahmy, Egypt’s Petroleum and Mining Minister. “Within the coming years, the production of the mine is expected to reach 500,000 ounces/year while the strategic gold reserve of gold is 12,000,000 ounces,” he added. The dedication of the Mantrac support team and the role its members played in ensuring that the equipment runs at the highest levels of efficiency instigated SGM administration to announce the imminent purchase of either RH200 or RH340 excavators with larger dump trucks 793 within the next couple of years. In addition to service and parts, the Sukari Gold Mine support team also offers advice and recommendations in order to guarantee that the customer gets the best of both CAT and Bucyrus equipment used onsite.

In fact, it is the excellent customer support that encouraged SGM to buy the 4th Bucyrus RH120, therefore making the mine the first of Mantrac’s mining customers to be equipped with 4 RH120 units.
