Dear Internet in Egypt: How slow can you go?

According to Ookla’s Netindex, Egypt’s internet download speed lies at 2.7 Megabytes per second (Mbps), compared to a global average of 20.1 Mbps. In terms of mobile internet, Egypt was placed at rank 84 out of 111 countries.

Ookla is the global leader in broadband testing and web-based network diagnostic applications.

Currently, the fastest broadband connection can be found in Cairo (2.83 Mbps), followed by Alexandria at 1.87 Mbps. As for mobile internet, the area with the highest download rate is Heliopolis (3.93 Mbps), followed by Amria (3.72 Mbps) and Zamalek (3.5 Mbps).

The fastest internet in the world can be found in Hong Kong at over 90 Mbps and Singapore at over 76 Mbps.
