MCSBE & Innoventures to host Cairo StartUp Cup 2013

The Middle East Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (MCSBE) and Innoventures are looking for Egypt’s startup of the year.

The Cairo StartUp Cup business model competition is open to any type of business idea. Entrepreneurs who compete in the Cairo StartUp Cup are rewarded for turning their idea into a viable business, going to market quickly, testing assumptions, and modifying their business model as they learn what drives customers and revenue.

The competition is not looking for experts, but rather passionate youngsters that are willing to develop themselves in order to turn their startup into a successful, profitable business.

The second round of the Cairo StartUp Cup is organized by MCSBE – also known as ‘Maksaby’ –, USAID/GEP, Innoventures, Nile University, Smart Village and the General Authority for Investment (GAFI). About 150 contestants will be part of the experience which will last until November 2013.

The Cairo StartUp Cup is part of a global network called the StartUp Cup which takes place in 41 countries.

Last year, the Cairo StartUp Cup helped around 14 companies increase their sales and attain key investments. These companies came from a diverse set of industries including recycling, product design and branding and technology.

The competitive process educates entrepreneurs to design a viable business model, develop customers, and accelerate their startup in the marketplace through a comprehensive judging, coaching, and mentoring process.

Deadline to submit your application is 8th June, you can submit online on http://cairo.startupcup.com/submit/
