Raya Data Center successfully received USTDA’s support for a feasibility study grant that will be dedicated to Raya’s investment in a new data center in New Cairo, providing Raya’s newly launched cloud-computing services.

The grant was signed by U.S. Ambassador Anne Patterson representing USTDA, Medhat Khalil, Raya Holding Chairman and CEO, and Reem Asaad, Raya Data Center CEO at the U.S. Embassy in Garden City, Cairo on Thursday, July 12th.

The $285,804 grant, provided by USTDA, will fund a feasibility study that will develop the fundamental design requirements, technology, and implementation plans for Raya’s new data center facility. The feasibility study will guide a major investment by Raya with a comprehensive technology and business analysis needed for service definition and implementation planning.

The facility, which represents an important investment in the Egyptian economy, will build a new Tier IV Data Center with the ability to offer a range of services from co-location, managed hosting, disaster recovery, business continuity, data center management & security, professional services, and cloud services from simple email and website hosting to customized applications, ERP, and CRM Portals.

Raya’s new facility that will be established according to Tier IV, the highest international data center standard, comes in line with Raya Data Center’s expansion strategy that aims to introduce a wide range of latest hosting services to the market in Egypt and the Middle East, while nurturing the newly-introduced cloud computing culture in Egypt. In addition, Raya Data Center’s current facility is the first ISO/ IEC 27001 certified data center in Egypt by the British Standard Institute (BSI), providing companies with services customized for different organization sizes and industries.
“This feasibility study grant signed today will serve as an example of USTDA partnering with a leading Egyptian private sector company,” said U.S. Ambassador Patterson.

“Raya Holding for Technology and Communications (RAYA) is investing not only in the future of the company but also in the Egyptian economy.”

“Cloud computing is the latest emerging trend in Egypt and it will majorly contribute to Egypt’s economy in the coming few years. With the vision to be the leading and most sophisticated cloud computing provider in Egypt and the Middle East, we will focus on nurturing the cloud computing culture in Egypt, leading the industry to higher levels of sophistication and maturity,” added Reem Asaad, Raya Data Center CEO.
