Egypt’s banks will close for six days starting Tuesday, 26 May, for the Eid Al-Adha holiday, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said in a statement.

The labour force reached 35.412 million people in the January-March period, compared with 34.829 million in the previous quarter.

Egypt’s unemployment rate fell to 6.3% in 2025, down from 6.6% the previous year, supported by effective economic reforms.

The measure would temporarily lift recently imposed 9 PM closing hours for shops, restaurants, cafes, and other venues during the holiday period.
