Egypt nearly triples its mandarin exports to the EU

Between September 2025 and May 2026, Egyptian mandarin exports to the EU totaled 71,457 tons, nearly tripling from last season.

The watermelon season typically begins in May, but fresh harvests keep coming until late July.

Spanish producers said Egyptian garlic entered the European market ahead of the local harvest season at an average price of €1.5/kg (US$1.71/kg).

PEI Trade reported its highest shipment volume, container count, and destination coverage during the campaign through its Nile Prime orange brand.

The search for more productive varieties with better flavor and earlier harvest windows is accelerating the adoption of new breeding programs.
