UAE at top slot in Mid East for internet infrastructure
A new global index published by Boston Consulting Group has claimed that the United Arab Emirates emerged as a leading nation in terms of providing better internet infrastructure. The nation thus offered quality internet services to people and increased its global ranking. Out of a survey of 50 countries around the world, the UAE has been ranked at 26th place.
Saudi Arabia and Egypt has been ranked at 39th place while South Korea bagged first slot in the index for its super-high-speed infrastructure, a well-developed e-commerce and digital-advertising marketplace, and high levels of internet engagement. Denmark, Sweden, the UK, and Iceland emerged in the list of top five nations.
Hong Kong led the world in terms of establishment while USA and Denmark toped based on internet engagement score and expenditure on infrastructure and services. Many developing nations, however, showed discouraging results.
Joerg Hildebrandt, partner and managing director at BCG, Middle East, said, "The BCG e-Intensity Index helps companies calibrate their business plans to national levels of consumer, business, and government engagement and the share of fixed versus mobile penetration."
