Turkish consortium to expand Egypt’s airport terminal with $387 million

The consortium led by Turkey’s TAV Airports Holding Company has won a US$387 million order from the Egyptian government to expand Cairo’s airport Terminal 2 facilities, taking a capacity of up to 7.5 million passengers annually, from the current 3 million passengers.

The tender was awarded after a shortlist of five different consortia, which included a high bid of USD436 million.

The project is to be financed through a USD280 million loan from the World Bank, with the residual paid for by The Cairo Airport Terminals Company.
