Saudi, Egypt To Discuss Reviving Shelved Causeway Proj-Report

Saudi Arabia and Egypt will discuss again a mega causeway project to link the two countries across the Gulf of Aqaba that was previously rejected by the regime of former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak, pan-Arab Al Hayat daily reports Saturday citing an official.

In its next meeting on Aug.13 in Jeddah, the Saudi-Egyptian Business Council will discuss this project which could be financed by investment funds from the Arab Gulf region or by the private sector, Abdullah Dahlan, the council's chairman, said according to the paper.

The council members have proposed that studies be carried out about the project, and its financial cost and economic feasibility, in order to re-launch it and present it to the two countries' officials, he told Al Hayat.
