New meat price controls
Price regulations have been imposed on meat, according to the Ministry of Finance’s website.
Beef prices in working class areas of Cairo have been set at EGP 50 (U.S. $8.50), while prices in wealthier areas are fixed at 60 EGP (U.S. $10).
The maximum price across Egypt is 90 EGP (U.S. $15).
Mutton prices are set at 50 EGP per kilo in Cairo’s working class neighborhoods, while Alexandria’s residents will pay 70 EGP (U.S. $11.75).
Poultry prices are fixed at 15 EGP (U.S. $2.50) per kilo in Cairo.
