Function held to mark cooperation between India, Egypt

A programme was organised by the Indian embassy here to mark the deepening economic and technical cooperation between India and Egypt.

Dr Hesham Kandil, the Egyptian Minister of Water Resources & Irrigation, was among the dignitaries who attended the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme day on September 5.

The programmed, organised by the Indian Embassy, was also attended by a number of Egyptian nationals who have been trained in various courses organized under the ITEC scheme in India.

Launched in 1964 as a programme of cooperation and partnership by to address the needs of the friendly developing countries, the ITEC Programme is an important component of India's economic relations with Egypt.

The programme aims to boost India''s cooperation and partnership in sharing technical expertise with Egypt.

The scheme offers training in over 250 courses in prestigious educational, technical and vocational institutes in India in a variety of fields ranging from information technology to management, vocational training, banking, finance, English language and so on.

Ahmad Nabil, who attended a course on Advanced Networking in India two years ago, said: "I benefited in many ways. India is breathtaking as a nation. Colours and scenery are just everywhere."
Hamdi Mohammad, who trained on advanced web development, is so touched by the experience that he no longer believes Egypt is an Arab country while India is not.
