Foreign Minister discusses in Ethiopia means to help drought victims in Somalia
Egypt will participate with a delegation, to be headed by Foreign Minister Mohamed Amr, in the African Union international conference of donors to address the drought crisis in the Horn of Africa scheduled to be held in Addis Ababa on August 25, 2011.
Ambassador Mona Omar, Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs said on Thursday 18/08/2011 that the one-day conference will discuss the role of the African Union and donor countries in how to unite and gather efforts to provide aid for the Horn of Africa.
Ambassador Mona Omar noted that she held a meeting with representatives of civil society organizations, which have desires to deliver relief supplies and aid to the Somali people.
She pointed out that it was decided to provide aid to Somalia on three stages according to a timetable in cooperation with donors, noting that the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces agreed to send the first shipment on a military plane within two days.
