Egypt changes ICT minister at last minute
Hazem Abdel Azim will not be the new ICT minister in Egypt, after the government was forced to make a number of last-minute changes to its new cabinet.
Azim was replaced by Mohamed Abdel Kader Mohamed Salem as the minister of Communications and Information Technology from 21 July. Since 2002, he was the chairman of the Information Technology Institute and a member of the institute's board of trustees.
Salem also serves as a board member of the Center of Computers and Information Systems of Cairo University's Faculty of Economics and Political Sciences, the Faculty of Computers and Information Technology of Sixth of October University, and chairman of the International Conference of Information and Communication Technology (ICICT), the International Conference of Multimedia (Digimedia), and the Arabic Conference for Geographic Information Systems (ArabMap).
