Agricultural exports achieved an unprecedented historical surge in 2025, with Egyptian citrus fruits, particularly oranges, topping the list of exported crops, reaching over 2.2 million tons.

This achievement reinforces Egypt's position as the world's largest orange exporter for the sixth consecutive year, surpassing traditional competitors such as Spain and South Africa.

The annual report of the Central Administration for Agricultural Quarantine revealed that the total value of agricultural exports (fresh and processed) exceeded $11.5 billion in 2025.

This figure reflects the superior quality of Egyptian produce, with the citrus sector contributing the largest share to this total. This success is attributed to increased cultivated areas and the implementation of modern coding systems that ensure product traceability from farm to end consumer in international markets.

Egyptian citrus fruits have successfully penetrated new and challenging markets in terms of regulatory requirements. Countries such as the Philippines, Australia, and Venezuela have opened their doors to Egyptian oranges and grapefruit.
