The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced it will begin using surgical robots in government hospitals, with the Nasser Institute Hospital in Cairo being the first hospital to adopt this state-of-the-art technology.

The decision followed a meeting between the Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, and representatives of TechnoWave and Medbot companies to discuss activating surgical robot technology within the ministry’s medical facilities.

This comes within the state’s plan to modernize the healthcare system and benefit from the latest global technologies in providing treatment services.

Surgical robots can be relied upon to provide comprehensive medical care to the patient, in addition to performing delicate procedures including:

  • General Surgery

  • Urology

  • Obstetrics and Gynecology
